Very hard

You either need a special sewing machine to do a proper bound brim, or have the skill and experience to do it by hand. First, do you have the proper width ribbon? Do you know you have to iron the ribbon in a curve first to set the shape? Tack sew it...then machine sew Xtra CAREFULLY?

I have seen Optimo sew hat bindings with a special machine made just for that task.

I have also seen Art sew a binding by hand, then by machine. I cannot tell you the skill that man has.

Why are you cutting the brim anyway?

Binding a brim yourself can be trciky business.

I've done it by hand, it is slow hard work. Very satisfying, though, when you're finished. I found that tight, cloesly spaced stitches work best and that's where the time consumption and finger soreness come in. You need a thimble, too. God bless your efforts.
