What would you call that colour? Copper? Can't see it ever being dark salmon but then....

So, on July 4th, I celebrated Independence Day by partaking in a proud American tradition, acquiring more stuff! I hit my nearby thrift shops and found what I believe to be a late 50's (Maybe early 60's?) Harris Tweed jacket. It has a '49 union label. It's way big on me, so I must go get it altered. Here are some pictures!

The best part was the price, a whole 4 bucks! Oh, did I mention that this is my first really good vintage jacket? I mean, I have some stuff from the 70's and 80's, but this... this is something else. For me, at least.

Here's an unusual one. I think it's the first time I've handled a Harris Tweed jacket with peaked lapels. It was made by CWS (Cooperative Wholesale Society):

What date would you think for this jacket? I don't have much of a knowledge of Harris labels but thought this style was circa 1950s, although the peaked lapels wouldn't fit with that period. The angle of the cutaway on the jacket also made me think it could be earlier, and the CWS label looks forties (but again, I'm not really familiar with their labels).

Any thoughts?

Love it! 3 button SB peak lapel in a thick tweed what more could you ask for! :eusa_clap

Subtle perfection. You can do everything with this: Wear the jacket as a sportscoat, the trousers separately with a jumper or leather jacket, and as a suit it's sober enough to look relatively formal in most situations.
