It is my favorite hat I own. I don't know the dates of manufacture but I gather from mine it is somewhere in the thirties. There are a few members here with other Boss Edges that don't look anything like mine. I wish I could find some in my size. I also have a Stetson#1 Quality with sweat stamped with The Fray logo. Both of mine have shackle curls but other members hat ones with out the curls.

Thanks.

I see I messed up (and it was indeed my fault) in my post for linking in an auction. I did that as the hat I was referencing looks quite a bit different than yours, in terms of the brim. It must have been the case that the name did not apply to a single style. I wonder what it did refer to?

That is an interesting link. Still, I think the very common attribution of the invention of the cowboy hat to John B. Stetson is a bit over done. The Boss of the Plains was an important hat, but there were broad brimmed hats in use prior to that.
