This is not one of my favorites. It is too small and it needs a lot of work.

It is not in great shape. It really needs to be reworked. I think it is a7-1/8 but I will need to check.
I am in the process of documenting all my hats and photograghing them.It has become a little daunting. I want to make a book of my hats. Once all are in my computer I will be divesting, keeping only those that I feel are important, special or emotional. I won't know how many of them I will let go untill I am finished. I will be separating them into catagories ....Fedoras, Hombergs and Bowlers, Caps, Novelty, Western and finally Military.

I have a lot. I thought at one time about 500 but now that I am picking them apart and photographing them it will turn out to be much less than that. I believe that most of the collection is Military.

Yes I do dislike when a great hat doesn't fit but I would still rather have it than not.

Lots more to come.

I don't know how much more of this I can stand. With each new post I feel a little more envy. And then I rush to ebay to find something just close to what you have. Now there is the crushing dissapointment at the paltry offerings.

Maybe I can talk my wife into a tour of the antique shops today. I can't do this as often as I would like because she doesn't enjoy looking at "other people's junk."

I just wanted you to know how much this is tearing me up.

I can't wait to see what you show us next.

Sorry man. I feel the same way when I look at some of the hats here. When I lose a bid on ebay it is like a knife in the back. I just lost a nice Borsalino. It is my own fault for not paying more attention.

Which one? I've been keeping an eye on all the Borsalinos.

It ended on the 26th. Gray/green Borsalino size 5-1/2 with the box.

I spent a lot of time looking at hat hat. It met the reserve at around $20. I don't think the seller had any idea what they were selling. I bid on it, but couldn't afford what it went for. If it went to anyone here I really want to see better pictures of it.

Book

Douglas - Do you intend to publish the book and make it available for sale? Besides enjoying your hats, I also like seeing the various locations you have taken the photos in. You could add to the hat theme and make it an insider's guide to New York City.

:eek:fftopic: All these great hats makes me think about whether people insure them or not. Probably like jewelry or cameras, one could get a rider on a homeowners or renters insurance policy. I wonder if you have to go through the hassle of an appraisal? I never thought about that until you mentioned the large number of hats you have. Of course, most people would just consider us nuts. I don't think the public in general think of hats as being a collectible (ie, easily fenced) item. [huh]

Ledsled, I plan on making the book only for myself. I wanted some type of documentation of what I have and a reference for comparing my hats with others. The photos I have taken are located at the job sites I visit daily.

I have insurance for my storage room.It is not enough but at least it is something.
