Hi friends, first, thank you very much for of all for your time and willingness to help me in identifying my Borsalino. Second, I scored it today at a garage sale. It was late morning, around 10am, I stopped, and saw it on top of an old lamp. The minute I saw it, I knew that it was something very special. I turned it around and saw the different marking, and knew that it was an excellent quality hat. The hat has a little tag that indicates it measures 6.5". The Borsalino is in lovely condition with no tears or scuff marks, stains, etc. The only challenge is the torn lining, but at least we can the the markings! :) I sincerely thank you for your help.

Best to ask this question in the "Ask a Question" thread... or to post the hat in the dedicated "Borsalino Brotherhood" thread.

The Borsalino manufacturing tag behind the sweatband would be the best confirmation of era. I believe it is 1950s-1960s.

It is a Borsalino sold in Rome, the shop was Carlo Lambardi - Via IV Novembre (near Piazza Venezia centre of Rome)
Many hats "emigrated" in the USA came from this shop very visited in the past decades by the tourists.
It is a "Qualità Speciale" and "marca Renna" (see the stamp of brand on the lining) so it is a special product of Borsalino lines. It could be the felt taht determined the special quality or sometimes the model.
6,5 is the size in the French table for hats sizes and it is a 60 cm. in EU and 7 1/2 US.
It came from the sixties, but more probable from the seventies.
It could be interesting to see the paper label under the sweatband.
An interesting piece!

Thank you both for the information, details, and advise. I sincerely appreciate it. This is the only tag that I was able to find behind the sweatband. The only thing that I can make sense of is the reference to "M Valle", which is probably the name of the prev owner (I'm assuming). Thanks again.

Thanks for sharing the additional photo. It is the style of the label rather than the serial numbers that helps us to place the hat in a date context. I think 1960s, but defer to Daniele's knowledge of Borsalino for the Italian market. The imprint on the sweatband would have been done for the retail purchaser - Sig. Landy.
