Borsalino Alessandria Dating Liner

I bought this Borsalino hat yesterday. It has the wind cord but is missing the button. I read a thread that dates the hats by the first two digits under the sweatband. The only number I see is 1177 and this hat surely isn't from 1911. I would guess mid 50's? The store it came from was open 1907-1981. It appears to be in pretty good shape other than the liner being faded and the sweatband being a little worn. The paper says bismuto nera which I assume means the color is bismuth and black.

Yes, Vic is one of several great references for Borsalinos.

And what a great hat, I hope you wear it often!
Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I turned it over and saw it was a Borsalino. I love gray/black grosgrain hats, I have a Knox twenty five and a Mallory, but I'm going to have to sell the Borsalino and a few others to pay for a medical procedure.

I’m sorry to hear of your health problems. I’m sure you won’t have any problem selling such fine hats. I’m of the opinion that material possessions really aren’t important in the big picture, and I don’t regret letting them go when needed. I find that eBay gets me the highest price, but do put in a link to our classifieds when you list your hats.

We wish you well on your procedure and hope for a speedy recovery.
