Great hat, great find!

Now, it IS my size. And, well, if you, uh, decide to, uh, you know, part with it, well, uh, I know someone, a friend, really, that would be more than, uh, you know, interested. That is, uh, if you really want to, uh, let it go.

flaunting and taunting

Its always the wealthy ones a flaunting and a taunting with the purchase out

of reach. It would have cost a pretty penny to fly cross country.

nice find and grab:eusa_clap

that looks very nice. It's a shame the sweatband's gone though, but hey, for nine bucks, how can you complain?

Nice pickup Jack, better be carefull posting the price. The "Price Gestapo" may point out your lack of manners.
Make that "Herr Price Gestapo", and smile when you say that.

There was nothing boorish about Jack Scorpion's post.

Don't worry be happy!

Watch out for the PURIST GESTOPO!
Zere vill be dose dat vill brow beat you not to "harm" such an estemed hat.

What is the Law?
It should not be touched or worn.

What is the Law?
It must not be repaired or have any part replaced.

What is the Law?
It should be placed in a chamber of inert gas and hidden in the Mountain SAC base in a sealed vault.

Anyone that breaks the Law goes back to the House of Pain!

Personally I'd get it cleaned, reblocked, and re-sized as needed. Replacing what ever needs to be replaced to make it a wonderfully wearable hat, because I'd rather have something I can wear that isn't shabby. To the Purist Gestopo that would be a crime punishable by torture.:eusa_doh:

Aw come now fellas. You are killing this thread with the nonsense.

Do you really want to label others in such derogatory ways because we expressed opinions on showing purchase receipts?

Such Impudence! The League of Purists will hear about this!
I can hear their jackboots marching this way!

Gestapo, jackboots, League of Purists, punishment by torture?

Jeeze you guys are really hung up on this stuff huh? :eusa_doh:

I think it is time to let it go.

Fascistic fashions.

I can understand not showing live EBAY auctions but what is up with not being able to discuss expenses or getting a good bargain?

If you have services performed it would help to quote prices to establish value so our members get an understanding of going rates. Also it helps to know when something has presented itself as a bargain versus being a heavy expense. I know that some here have the advantage of a very good income and can take a bit more of a "money is no object" approach while others are living on a budget and need to literally pinch pennies. The rest of us are somewheres in between.

The hat industry is better off with an informed consumer and the consumer is better off if there is a (level) competition. My friends discuss housing costs, car costs and even grocery costs as it affects our ability to choose correctly for our situation. If I find a bargain and i did not share the info, I would consider myself very selfish and uncaring of my peers.

I am trying to make a point about how others that believe they KNOW BETTER than everyone else, put others down in their supposed erudite ways. Many are not in the position to collect as others do but to be verbally beaten up for something, that is a form of fascism too, hence the jackboots reference.

No actual violence has been suggested, my comments previous are tounge in cheek...

The topic of showing ebay receipts has been discussed. The search feature is available if a refresher is necessary.

Are members telling everyone how much Art Fawcett, Fedora, or the other hatters are charging? Why is ebay the exception.

Read this part slowly and carefully....
No one ever discouraged anyone else from discussing good bargains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It does not get any clearer than this.

Name calling about Fascists, or jackbooting thugs is just demagoguery. Not appropriate for a discussion about hats and what I used to think the Lounge was above.

Who is getting too sensative here? I'd suggest you back off and calm down.

You're getting spun for no reason.:eusa_doh:

I did not name any names, I did not gore anybody's ox. I was trying to make a point about how some people pull a smackdown on others using a high handed approach.

Perhaps, you need to take a chill pill.

The search selection is worthless to me, either I get nothing or way too much stuff to sift thru. I'd like to suggest a FAQ section for some of the subjects.

BTW Art has prices listed on his web site for the hats he is showing.

Uh, guys, maybe we could get back to THE HAT ON HAND and if, maybe if, the gentleman who purchased it would be oh so kind to consider another of a larger girth melon and if they might, just might be willing to part with it - without having to resort to, let's say, blackmail! An act, of course, that is not beyond me for a ten buck Borso!

That possible?
