Its still standing but....property has been sold for development,
homes or condos.
I was mistaken, I thought Ponderosa Ranch was at South Lake Tahoe,
when in fact its Incline Village near North shore Lake Tahoe,
I still have a couple of souvenir tin water cups from gift shop.
RIP!

So now all of the Bonanza characters are dead, am i correct?

That is correct, Miss Hadley. I found myself checking this afternoon for a bit of nostalgia (my family as a kid were big 'Bonanza' fans!). Sheriff Coffee, Hop Sing, Pa and all the boys. Characters like Candy and Griff and Jamie are still kicking.... but did we really accept them as part of the Cartwright clan anyway?

Here's a great website: http://bonanzaworld.net/quickfacts.php?s=#jamie

Of course, it's little known that in later years, most of the Ponderosa was destroyed in a fire caused by a carelessly discarded burning map...:D

Hop-Sing lead a a group of Asian investors in a leveraged buy-out through a reverse mortgage scam decades ago, and turned it into a theme park.

Never heard Lorne Greene sing theme song "Bonanza" and I remember "Ringo"
Johnny Cash did cover the song in late 1950s,

The claim we hold is as good as gold, bonanza
Hand in hand we built this land, the Ponderosa Ranch
Our birthright is this Cartwright bonanza
We here belong, and standing strong, wrong ain't got a chance .

Day by day, work or play, ready side by side
Hello friend, come on in, the gate is open wide
Bound to be a fightin' free bonanza,
Singing pines ARE boundary lines for the Ponderosa Ranch.

[ guitar ]

Every tree and flower is part of our bonanza
The stars at night, the morning light, water in the branch
We ride along four men strong together
Every plain and ridge is our heritage: Ponderosa Ranch

Day by day, work or play, ready side by side.
Hello friend, come on in, the gate is open wide.
Bound to be a fightin' free bonanza,
Singing pines ARE boundary lines for the Ponderosa Ranch.

Who ever heard Ben (Lorne Greene) sing the words to the Bonanza theme? When I was a kid, we had this record. Someone gave it to us as a gift because Ben sings "Ringo" on the flip side. Somehow they thought that was about Ringo Starr!!! What a hoot!

Since I was a kid, Pernell Roberts was a hero of mine. But back then it was because I was impressed by how cool he was. I appreciate him even more now as an adult because I learned how he was a champion of civil rights and a sturdy man of conviction in every endeavor, just like Adam Cartwright. He may have grown tired of the show and what he saw as its limitations, but Pernell himself embodied the very best qualities of his character.

I've been a member at the Bonanza World forum for six years now; there's lots of love and spirited debate over there.

On the move again...
I ust found out a funny thing. My brother-in-laws middle name is Pernell. He got that from his mother because she was a huge fan. He should have never told me that tid bit. ;)

Cheers!

I think it's cool as hell! Tell him to admit it with pride!:eusa_clap

BTW, my mother was a HUGE Michael Landon fan and that's how my middle name (my real name isn't "Nathan Dodge") came to be Michael. Well, she denied it but I'm positive that's the reason.
