Another item I've got up here for sale is this sweet baby...I have no idea as to the date of this suit, but it is a nice 6x2 double breasted style...The only tag present leads me to believe that it is a bespoke suit and it IS fully canvased. It's made of a very lightweight fabric, yet it doesn't feel fragile... It has some very nice touches such as the angled breast pocket.

Jacket:
Chest: 42
Waist: 40
Sleeve: 23 1/2
Shoulders: 18 1/4
Total: 29 1/4

Pants:
Waist: 34
Total: 40 1/4
Inseam 30 1/2
Cuff width: 1 3/4"

Speculation as to maker

Slicedbread,

That style of label looks familar to me - it reminds me of the label used by Sam's Tailor of Burlington Arcade, Nathan Road, Kowloon. Usually they put another label with their address etc. in the other breast. Is there anything there?

It's also very much in their style. Is there a stitch joining the upper and lower lapels?

Hey there Alan...There are no other labels present. That label appears once inside the jacket and once inside the pants' waistband...I'm not quite sure about what you mean by a stitch, but if I know what you're talking about then I don't believe one is present...

Edit: Also, I forgot to mention that I believe this suit to be cotton.

It's a looped stitch (quite loose) joining the collar to the bottom (peaked) lapel, presumably to stop it flapping about. They aren't too common now, but Sam's often uses them. I believe you can see it as a white line on this photo of Ray's splendid linen suit by Sam's.

I find it amazing that his stuff shows up like this! Yes- the label is exactly the same as the one in my Sam suits. And yes, there is a loop there holding the collar and lapel together. On my DB, there is actually loose stitching holding them together as per the modern style. I reckon it's because the fabric is too flimsy.
Alan, you have a very good eye.
