It would be nice if someone composed a book of photos of him in all his handsomely tailored suits. I've seen books on Cary Grant and Fred Astaire, so maybe we'll get one on Bogart soon ;)

I recently saw a photo of Bogie (on a studio lot)
resting on a bicycle wearing tie/sport coat, slacks; effortless
elegance.

I haven't seen it Matt, but I heard about it recently. Bogie's my favourite Golden Era actor, I'm ashamed to say that I haven't gotten hold of a copy of it yet.

There was another thread a little while back, wherein the topic of discussion was Golden Era acting, and how actors from the 30's and 40's would fare compared to today's acting styles. Someone stated that they thought Bogie was one of the few who could still make the grade as a serious actor today. While I personally, being biased, would like to think this is true (I'm not an actor, what do I know about the craft? :D ), I can say for certain that Bogie, like many other stars of that time, had a very certain quality about him, an indefinable something - the 'it' factor as they say today - and he had it in a way that the stars of today just don't seem to. He had class, but wasn't effete; he could be sensitive but tough, a hardboiled hero who still seemed an everyday guy. He had that quality that draws the audience to him, to watch what he does, take in his persona, his look and his style, and, of course, to emulate him.

He was a natural in a great suit, and I don't think any image conveys the concept of 'hardboiled' better than a picture of Bogie in a fedora.

I spent time at a bookstore browsing this title. It is a very nice book about the life and career of this iconic actor. There are many picture to satisfy the eye and the text summarizes his life and career.
Well worth the money.

My favorite photo is Bogey on the bicycle.
