Do you prefer a Boater :yo: , or a Panama?

I like the Boater personally, more classic...

Well, It depends on what your wearing. I certainly wouldn't wear a boater with a Hawaiian shirt.

I have to say, these days, I can't imagine any situation when I'd wear a straw boater. On second thought, maybe I can think of one situation: a political convention.

You do not need a situation per say, I wear one with my suits or odd jackets everyday of the summer!

Got to say I was surprised. Tried on a boater for the first time down at Henry The Hatter's last week, it looked okay and was more comfortable than I'd expected (to me they always looked uncomfortable but not so!).

That said, between the two? Panama for sure.

Panama. When I think of a boater, an image of Dick Foran in The Mummy's Hand automatically comes to mind: a big guy in a heavy DB suit and an already outdated-looking skimmer, sauntering through the streets of 1940 Cairo in the summer heat, while all the other men are in Panamas. Not an aesthetically-appealing image (although I do like the film).
