Were bleach or hydrogen peroxide applied, and the color black altered to a lighter color, is there a method to apply dye or some sort of leather treatment that will adjust the lighter color to some actual brown?
Would the lightening procedure you folks have identified be likely to harm the sheepskin? If it would, how much harm?

I'm asking these series of questions because I have an opportunity to acquire precisely the sheepskin jacket I want - except for its color black - at a modest price. I have no qualms about futzing with the jacket's color provided I can finish adjustment with a shade of brown that I can accept, and the color adjustment does not harm the jacket. Not much point to the exercise were the jacket to metamorphose to an junker eyesore.
I would just take the Jacket to a Leather professional as I did, they were able to Tan My sheepskin from white to cream color without changing the outer leather.
