THE REVIEW IS FURTHER DOWN THIS THREAD AS I JUST GOT THE HAT YESTERDAY.

Wow!! Fedora you da man, this hat really shows that you can make a vintage fedora. I love it and can't wait to get it. Here it is without the link

I know the hat looks purple in the pics but when I get it I'll try to get some shots that show its real color. This is one of the hardest colors and styles to find on ebay.

Steve thinks his camera is going bad. I know this felt is jet black. The 100 % beaver felt is gorgeous. I have the black felt sample from Fedora. :)

Here is the weirdest one. purple

I tried later on the same camera, but never could get the hat to show black. I put a brown one next to it, and the brown one was a light brown, and the black one was a dark brown. I guess I can take pics of any color, but black. Weird. Fedora

The problem with photos of the black hats is that, when they show up really black, you can hardly make out the details.

I appreciate a black hat showing up as gray, or blue, or, yes, even purple, because I can see the form and details better.

Fedora, I want to get an Indy hat from you. Your hats are just incredible.

I'm going to be a pitch man for Fedora and just say that for those who want a custom high quality hat, his are going to be hard to beat, both in quality and price. Check out other custom hatters prices for 100% beaver and you will find they are at least twice and sometimes more than what he charges. While he specializes in Indy fedora's, I asked that this one not have the dimensional cut, and to have the brim flanged all the way around, the rest is all in the styling of the crown. Leaving it in an open state will let me put the vintage pinch in it that I like, after all that's the way they used to come anyway. He has gray, brown and as you can see black for colors.

Thanks Fedoralover. Let me add to the colors. I also have a pecan color that is not what one thinks of when you think of the pecan color. It is a very vintage color.(my bestest friend, Sharptoyes just got one) I have two grays, a dark charcoal gray, and I just added the Raiders's gray, a medium gray with a brownish undertone. The best that I have seen in matching the film's gray color. Thanks again. Fedora

Fedora -- Do you have photos of the various colors? The Raiders gray-brown sounds intruiging, as well as the pecan.

I think, though, for the first one, I will probably stick to Indy brown.

Just for comparison I just checked Dave Brown's website and he charges $575. for what he calls his Standard Beaver fedora and $775 for what he calls Black Beaver. To really top things off I personally saw a 100% beaver fedora in San Francisco last fall in a shop and they were asking $1500. for it. Now you can see why Steve's fedora's can't be beat.

Steve really makes the best "Jones Style" fedora out there. Each day I go out I have one person asking me where I got it.

Right now I'm working on a tribute page for his fedoras with a link to his website. Anyone who has pix and comments are more then welcome to contribute.

Fedoralover... I would love to host some pics of that black fedora and you wearing it when you get the chance.

Thanks Fedoralover. Your opinion means alot to me because of your affinity for vintage hats, and the quality that once was the rule rather than the exception. I was just as nervous sending it to you as you were getting it. It is one thing to make a young guy a hat that is only after the Indy look, and probably does not notice the little things, and another thing all together to make one for a guy such as yourself. That you are pleased sure serves as a good pat on the back for me. But, I still came out ahead on that trade. :cheers1: Fedora

Yeh, well like I said, you owe me one. ha ha. It's been raining here all day so the cooler weather has been great to wear a black hat in. It fits like a glove. I used a touch of steam to set the shape and it held it immediately without getting stiff. I love it.

Renderking -- Are you wearing Steve's Indy hat in your avatar?

That is one great looking fedora.

Yea, it's one that Steve made. It's just phenomenal! Exactly the right perportions.

Ren, I'm fine with that, although it does look purple.

Excelent. The page is already in the process. I was wondering if I could use your name and location next to your FL handle.

Beautiful looking hat, Fedoralover! Great job, Fedora!

Did you order the lightweight hat, or the mediumweight?

Ren, you can use whatever part of me you want to use.

Brad, to be honest I didn't specify any particular weight, only that it be pounced really smooth. But by how it feels it would have to be a medium to heavy weight.
