Thanks for asking Nick. The Arco 16160 is made with a light seal Victory horse. The new batch of seal is expected to be a bit darker, although there may be some lighter hides in it as the Victory horsehide is a 100% handmade leather and the top finish is made by hand rub off process.

Heres hoping you do receive some lighter and/or chocolatey browny Seal hides... If so, 'dibs', put some aside for a size 40.

Thanks andy, i understand why you recommended avoiding it on my future dark seal jacket, it is very light indeed.

Do you have a picture of a jacket with the current dark brown knits? since i placed my order i keep seeing jackets with lots a different knits and kinda wonder if dark brown was the right choice...

No but close. It comes from Tuscany, Italy.

Andy, whats the difference between that 'House' A-2 steerhide and the Badalassi? Or is it the same thing...

No it's not the same thing. The house A-2 steerhide is chrome tanned and the Badalassi is veg tanned. That alone makes a huge difference in price.

Actually, to be precise, we 'd like to count the date of your order from when you shipped your M-422 back for exchange. That was on June 25 2013. We received it mid July 2013. So much less than a year.

To get to your question, we have received a sample skin recently and the tannery was asking us to approve the color which we did. So the leathers should now be at the finishing stage and we wait to hear news from the tannery really soon.

Actually, to be precise, the clock started ticking back last December when BK contacted about replacing my M422 with a "Victory Horse" A2. I accepted, and was told you would be in touch with me when you were ready to make my A2 and when to send my M422 back in.
At that time, BK was noting a 2-3 week wait on orders placed.

Between December and June I contacted Platon several times about the A2...and if BK was ready for me to send back my M422.
Finally in June I was told to send it in...BK was ready to make my jacket.

OK, no arguments there. Whatever the case may be, we offered to make you a jacket in Victory horse and that's what we will do. Due to the prolonged waiting and mistake with your order, it has been agreed that you will be the 1st to get a jacket made with the new batch of leathers.

However, to quote Mr David Himel whom everybody seems to be fond of "Firstly it can take up to a year to produce vegetable tanned horsehide."

It is to our best interest to have the leathers asap, otherwise we lose orders. We do not enjoy these delays, we actually suffer more than you do.
