Local. Just to get it done faster. They did a good job. The original lining was excellent and Andy tried to warn me that it might not be ok. I didn't listen. So it was 100 percent my fault. The gentleman who did the work commented on how nice the leather was.

The tartan's a good idea. If you don't mind me asking how do you find the weight of the capeskin? I've been thinking about a summer jacket and it's a good looking possibility!

It's a lightweight jacket. Perfect for a summer jacket. I was actually surprised how light it was. I don't think I would go with flannel if you want a summer jacket. It will be too warm depending on what your summers are like.

That's a really good point! Thanks for the tip.

If you like the tartan, there are probably other options other than flannel. Although, I'm not sure if they will be much better for not making you too warm. I know that BK offers various tartans. I wish I would have done that in the first place. I'm sure Andy could help you.

No idea where they source it (Lochcarron, afaik, specialise in wool), but I've seen Aero use some very nice cotton tartans, so that's obviously an option from them, or any other manufacturer willing to accomodate. My Summer leather is a Wested Raiders I bought used, in their goatskin. Lighter than the Aero goat but still significantly sturdier than lamb. It's certainly wearable beyond any other leather I have - I wore it in Dehli last February, at around 22 celsius, though that was very much at the peak of its bearability (it was practical for other reasons at the time - specifically, I wanted / needed the zip pocket for my wallet as a security measure in crowded places. Dehli felt safe enough, I'm just a classic defensive thinker...). TBh, though, if I was setting out to buy a jacket that was specifically for Summer wear and I wanted to get the most out of it, I doubt I'd go leather at all. Depends on what heat you can take, really.

FYI the Tartans we use are top quality 100% wool made in Scotland and imported from Scotland by ourselves.
We also carry cotton Tartans and plaid cottons in various colors, for which we pay handsomely and import from the UK.

Andy
