My vote is for Milena Canonero.

She is sublime. Period accurate down to the last detail, and what a magnificent eye! Sra. Canonero has designed the costumes for such Golden Era period films as:

-- The Shining
(remember the bar scene?)

-- The Cotton Club

-- Out of Africa

-- Tucker: The Man and His Dream

-- Dick Tracy

See all of these movies ... if only for the costuming!

Bonus point: in this photo, she's dressed like George Sand!

I think Lindy Hemming (of Brosnan-era Bond film fame) did a great job on the first season of the A&E series "Nero Wolfe." Look at my avatar for an example.

I thought the costumes in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day were amazing. It's on cable right now and everytime I see it on, I switch over :) They were done by Michael O'Connor who also did the The Duchess- which I have been wanting to see.

The new Miss Pettigrew is generally pretty good, but there were a few things that just didn't quite nail it from my POV.

In particular, the lead Blonde (I have no idea who she is!) just looked a bit too cartoonish to my eye. Her blue dress she puts on first to go out looked too short for that time period, is something that I remember, because it struck me as I watched it, and I've only seen it once.

However, Miss Pettigrew was brilliant. I love how dowdy her clothes were. She is meant to be and sometimes they still make characters like hers seem a bit too 'dressed up'.
