Marshall Field's 'Sports Room' was a wonderful place to visit as a child. It was located in the Field's Anex Bulding (along with its Store for Men) across the street from the flagship store. Upon entering the Sports Room one was greeted by a huge stuffed grizzly bear in attack stance. Between the Sports Room and the neighboring Abercrombie & Fitch all the sportsman's needs could be met. Sadly, both shops met their demise in the early 70s.
For those in the UK: Selfridges was created in Marshall Field's likeness as Harry worked at MF for 25 years before moving to london and opening his own store.
