Beach hats

I'm leaving for a weekend at the Jersey Shore in just a few short days... and a few weeks from now I'm spending my time in West Palm Beach, Fl. But my biggest concern has to do w/ the fact that i cannot tan. It's physically impossible- just lobster red for me, no matter what sunblock. So to avoid the awful peeling face look upon my return, I decided to finally go for the wide brimmed hat. But I can't find any that aren't too 1970's or "Blossom" look a-like.

Where does one find that "perfect" wide brimmed straw hat?

I am in the same boat as you--I don't tan at all! I just turn red and then it's back to pale again :)

I have three staw sun or 'cartwheel' hats from the 1930s-40s. I found two in a local shop, and one on eBay.

One looks a whole lot like this:

And as I found out to my embarrassment on the guys' hat thread - a ladies panama is cool. (Explanation - I asked if anybody wore one as though it would be a new idea :eusa_doh: )

I do love the panama's! They're just a little out of my price range at the moment. :(
