baking a warped 78

Interesting pic. Also interesting is that that Crumb created his very own 78s in the 1970s, too bad they were vinyl and not shellac.

I've heard the best way to restore a warped 78 takes a little more time and most prefer this to baking them.

Get two pieces of heavy glass, larger than the 78. Place the record between the glass and set it outside on a sunny day. The heat from the sun will warp it back to a reasonably flat state, but the recording might not sound as amazing as it did originally. Mind you, don't leave it out all day. You should keep an eye on it.

Horribly warped? Maybe baking it would be the only feasible method. [huh]
