Baby Spit-Up out of Tan Cotton?

I wore my brand-new "Chaps" tan cotton 2-piece to church today. Mrs. Conwill nursed Baby Conwill during the service and handed her off to me. Unfortunately, Baby Conwill immediately emptied most of her meal onto my suit pants and the cuff of my jacket.

What's the best course of action? I understand that dry cleaning is aimed more at getting grease and oils out of clothing. Is "wet cleaning" a better response?

Thanks,
Dave

Interesting concept...

Nursing during church... As a PK (Preacher's Kid), I can honestly say this is a new concept for me.

Not sure what to do about the spit-up, but it seems like a cotton suit might be more forgiving than a wool.

I'd bet wet cleaning with a sponge would do the trick. I am not sure if it may stain, but the digestive portion may attack the fabrics or color some how. Rinse if necesary.

The tough part about wet cleanining is that if the complete jacket is immersed they usually have a hard time pressing it to look good as it loses a lot of it's shape.

One of the prewashes either "Shout" or Spray & Wash" is being made with Resolve and they showed it getting out some tough stains.

I have found that huggies unscented baby wipes do wonders for organic whoopses and do not leave any residue behind. Just place a cotton lintfree cloth (dishtowel or cloth diaper) behind the fabric and daub, don't rub. Let it airdry and repeat as needed.

this method has saved my proverbial bacon on more than one occasion, including the 'fishfry grease on silk organdy debacle' and the infamous 'lipstick on wedding dress disaster of '98'.

I used Shout to turn a heavily red-wine stained pair of light khaki pants back to khaki.

Spray heavily - roll up so the Shout-ed portion is on the "inside" of the roll.

LET SIT!!

Do not wash yet. LET SIT.

I believe I let them sit overnight or maybe for 2 or 3 days, I can't really remember...

Check condition of stain. Re-Shout if stain not gone. Roll up and LET SIT.

When stain has disappeared, wash as usual.

Red Wine pants gone, nice clean khakis back.

Don't know about your suit, but Shout the cuff of the jacket and let it sit maybe, then clean with a damp sponge - if you don't want to use the washing machine to clean it:eek:

California's Green #115 - WET CLEANERS
We all know what dry cleaning is, but have you heard of wet cleaning? If you haven’t, you will begin to hear the term more and more as California embraces the process that is the answer to the hazardous chemicals used in dry cleaning.

To help jump-start professional wet cleaning in the Los Angeles region, the South Coast Air Quality Management District funded The Garment Care Project of the Pollution Prevention Education & Research Center (PPERC) at Occidental College. This project provided wet clean equipment and technical training grants to 22 cleaners interested in switching from dry cleaning to professional wet cleaning.

So to learn more about it, Huell is joined by PPERC’s director and the proud owner of Nature’s Best Cleaners and follows the steps involved in this non-toxic, energy efficient and, of course, environmentally friendly process.

I would take the trousers and jacket to a very good dry cleaner and tell them what the stain is.
