Royal Stetson Whippet. Approximately 5 3/8” open crown and 2 3/8” wide brim. Size is 7 1/8. This is a smaller proportioned Whippet than what I’m used to.

Yep......Stetson (and everyone really) was hard at work shrinking there iconic hats in the late 50's through the 60's....:eek::eek::rolleyes:;)
(Slight edit) I think a lot of these "new" styles were fostered on the public to save the hat companies money. By the mid to late 50's there was a shortage of wild hare and rabbit (coney) fur leading to prices skyrocketing for these and all fur in general......
I posted a lengthy article about if from a 50's hatter magazine around here somewhere...
