This was courtesy of one of our dogs a couple of days ago.
Moral: Don't leave your precious gear where pets can chew it! Favourite Cape skin glove or a throwaway chew toy - it's all the same to them.

You're absolutely right. From my experience digs tend run around chomping away happily, while you chase after them yelling "Nooooooo!"

I couldn't be mad at the dog. As my girlfriend said, "Well, that's what you get when you don't pick your things up and put them away …". Can't argue with that. <sheesh!>.
But I've just looked up a new pair on the ELC website … 109 pounds! Jesus. "You pay to learn" as my dad always says.

Reminds of a post from 2-3 years ago of a guy whose dog absolutely dismantled one of his Mister Freedom Road Champs (engineer boots that retail for almost 1K).

Send them back to Eastmans and demand a refund for such inferior workmanship ;-D

I worked in retail once (high end men's clothes) back in the mid 1980's and once upon a time a man came in with a cream jacket covered in engine oil that he had purchased the previous week (not covered in engine oil at point of purchase)."How dare you have sold me this he said"...."I want a replacement or a full refund" my colleague the poor shop assistant stated the obvious "sir it had no oil on it when we sold it to you". The customer (who was a huge fellow with cauliflower ears and a broken nose) replied " are you calling me a LIAR?" Needless to say he was given a full refund :-D

3. Wha wha wha???? That's why a man pays rent or the house note so he CAN leave what he wants where he wants. Anyone don't like it???? They can git to steppin'. As my dad used to say... "Ah pays the cost to be the boss!". Of course I also tend to put my stuff away and I don't own a dog... yet....

That's the connumdrum. I'm retiring in March. I've finally got my own home and time and a wants a dog BUT every current and former dog owner I know is telling me to Fuggedaboutdit! They destroy stuff... valuable stuff, they think the living room rug is the bathroom. They need to be "walked". They shed, they stink, they eat items that are best left unmentioned and complicate travel plans. But I still want my first doggus... What's your vote?

I thought about that - as a laugh. Then I looked up the cost of a new pair on their website - and stopped laughing.

Sensible option on Mr. Angry in the store btw. I remember those occasional types in the pubs in England. Utterly frightening and beyond reason.

As one who has plenty of dogs, yes Worf, they're all that. And most of my money goes on top quality dog food and treats and training and blankets and cleaning supplies and vet bills and whatever they need - instead of the leather jackets and gear I used to get when I was single with just my one dog - and I'm broke these days and have never had less sleep in my life.
But I will say that my life feels fuller and richer than ever and I wouldn't change a thing. Life is grand.
And taking in a shelter dog is beyond value - and they're very grateful, every day. Don't ask me how they know - they just are! You're their world and they let you know it.

Hi, Worf. Think about something: you're retiring, so now, finally, you can sleep late. Do dogs sleep late? Will they bug you to death for that early stroll? To add to the fun, will you have to pick up your little pal's poop with a plastic glove and carry it around until you find the proper receptacle? As one who has plenty of dogs, yes Worf, they're all that. And most of my money goes on top quality dog food and treats and training and blankets and cleaning supplies and vet bills and whatever they need - instead of the leather jackets and gear I used to get when I was single with just my one dog - and I'm broke these days and have never had less sleep in my life.
But I will say that my life feels fuller and richer than ever and I wouldn't change a thing. Life is grand.

Yeah, I agree. After our first Bernese died of old age, my wife didn't want another dog. But then the local cops said they found an abandoned one in a local park, and it was aggressive and frightening the kids. They said that we could have it, or they would have to put it down. My wife was so excited, so I agreed, and the damn mutt is near untrainable, and has chewed its way through so many shoes. But it is a very loving dog, hates to be alone, and is always so happy to see us.
