It’s a fivestar made in their premium goat.

I think it looks good. I like the slight variation in style. Keep in note this type of collar probably looks a little better, or more sleek, zipped up. nice jacket

I think the collar is good.
But as always, this is a matter of taste and if you are not used to such a collar and feel uncomfortable with it, then it is probably too big.
I think Ton and I had the same collar.

Would you be able to help me date this Monarch that I've just got?

It has a Crown zipper but with a Coat & Clarks slider. The jacket also has a green Monarch label, which I'd assume for their steerhide jackets, as opposed to the red one (for horsehide, maybe?).

The Red lining is 1950s. The style of jacket and zipper could date it more closely. The label will not.

This style was popular through out the 50s. Not much else to say. I will say this though, I don't see many californians in the style, At least not with their label

Thanks, Terry. That's what I thought too.

So this jacket is 70 years old, hey. The leather does feels old when I first got it. I'm surprised that it still holds together well. I just wiped and put several coats of Lexol on it. It's back to action now.

Btw, do you mind if I ask about the differences between the green and red Monarch label? Are they from different eras? Or indication of one better than the other?
