I have acquired two Artel tweed fedoras with 2" brims that belonged to my deceased uncle. He apparently bought them in the '60s and they were carefull stored. I have tried to research the Artel label but had no luck.

One is grey and one beige. The labels inside the crown read "A Hat With a Pedigree...Artel...Since 1860" and the size (L) labels say "custom made". They seem to be in very good condition and the sweatbands have almost no visible signs of wear.

I will appreciate any info on Artel, this particular style, and the approx mfr date. Thanks, Al

Cloth hats were a big business in the US for many years . Right now there is only one manufacturer left . Those hats were probably made during the 1960's when they were the most popular.
