I'm trying to make my tap shoes look art deco, I already painted them Jade Green (my fave color), but they're glittery cuz I want them to stand out, what kind of design can I put on them? Thanks!

Bows

Tap shoes in the deco era usually tied with a big bow on the instep instead of a strap... that wold help!
You could also pave the heel in rhinestones, and paint some silver stripes on them to emulate these:

I have some deco-inspired modern dance shoes I can post as examples, but Miss 1929 really does have an excellent idea that is easy, quick and not too expensive.

My shoes would pale in comparison, and her idea is easier to transform also.

Let me know if you still want to see them.

I've been planning to get the straps cut off my tap shoes and tie them with a bow, too. The shoes Jean Veloz wears in Groovie Movie are my inspiration (at minute 3:28 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbaNYWkQYYA ) i'm planning to just have my cobbler cut off the strap, stitch the end to finish it, and add a grommet. I'll add the ribbon, or maybe have several in different colors.

I also LOVE the rhinestone heel idea. It sounds very "ballroom", but looks great on those shoes.

Another option instead of cutting off the strap is got to walmart and in the bridal craft section they have meduim sized bows in numerous colors. I picked up black ones and slid them on my straps of the shoes. Heres the picture:

I think the set of bows cost me an extravagant total of:$3.50!
