Awesome color films of WWII and before. I'm sure they'll rebroadcast it.

The best hat had to be the one that Roosevelt wore - very tall crown, with a campaign hat bash in the front, rear dents, and a large black ribbon (at least 2 1/2"). Gray. I hope I'm remembering it correctly.

The guy just looked GOOD.

Anyone seen a photo of this hat before?

The famous campaigning hat. There are many photos of him in it. He grabbed and squashed and sat on it, so it looks very different in many of the pictures. He liked to wear it when out greeting people, brim up all around, looking as ordinary as possible. This, from 1936:

Nope, none of those!

It was definitely a clean, dressy fedora, and the campaign bash was only at the very top - way up above the tall ribbon. In other words, the sides were straight and untapered.

That was an excellent episode. I prefer to leave black and white films untouched but the color news reels are fantastic. I could have watched for another two hours.
