NYT article

"Rolfing is named after its creator, Ida Rolf, a biochemist from New York City who studied alternative methods of bodywork and healing beginning in the 1920s. She died in 1979 at the age of 82.

Dr. Rolf developed a theory that the body’s aches and pains arose from basic imbalances in posture and alignment, which were created and reinforced over time by gravity and learned responses among muscles and fascia — the sheath-like connective tissue that surrounds and binds muscles together. Rolfing developed as a way to “restructure” muscles and fascia. "

I haven't Rolfed since the last time I got a little too enthusiastic with the Johnny Walker lol

but seriously folks, there was a very interesting article in Men's Health magazine about the fascia and how it interacts with muscle tissue, and some of the findings were eyebrow raising.

I'll see if I can find a link somewhere.

I started a rolfing series many years ago and endured about 4 sessions. Quite the painful process. I bailed out before what was to be the next part: working the base of the tongue and jaw muscles. The only hands I want in my mouth are those of a dentist. Plus, my posture was already pretty good. Curiosity got me there in the first place.

Are you considering it with a particular goal in mind?

I can see why one would be very relieved when they left after it is over.

I will not make fun of your rolfing if you will not of my mums. (not the Mother kind)

Isn't it amazing how many unique things people do. I love life. :D

I would like to do the thing where people used to take like bowling pins and toss them around to strengthen upper arms and body.
