Another what is it?

We saw this on the breakfast table a 'castle' formerly owned by the Dunsmuir family in Vancouver. What is it, it does have some small steam holes just above the handle. Maybe a scone tray?

I'm pretty sure that's a cheese tray & cover, think large wedge of cheese.
