Yesterday I went to one of two remaining hat stores in hog town and was met with *shock horror* papered windows. The Hattery has left the building. It was an expensive but cute little hat shop in a 50s/60s arcade spanning Yonge to Victoria. I just wanted one of those little stretchers, so my sale wasn't going to keep them afloat, but still, couldn't they have held out another few weeks.

Anyway... :cheers1: for the fallen.

Very sad, I bought my first fedora there.
I was in their other store last week and the owner told me about the closing of the downtown store. Not enough business to keep it open.
I can only hope the Avenue Road store survives.

Do you know if they had any hat equipment that they might want to sell? I'd be interested .

Besdor, That location only sold the hats, they had no equipment there.
You had to go to their other store for anything else.

The problem is with many of these shops they just dont adapt. Im not talking the sale of baseball caps but if they only raised their game to link to modern fashion they would probably survive much longer. I saw a mannequin a while back in a shop in town dressed in retro T shirt, Jeans and quite a nice fedora. This was a year or so ago and I remember asking the girl where the hats were displayed. She said they got loads of questions about it and would probably have sold dozens but they dont stock them, it was just for show. Absolute madness. If some shops stocked them, took a risk and stuck them on mannequins showing just how cool they can look with modern clothing, bingo!!! But they dont, they display them like some 30's icon with no subliminal link to anything modern. If I ever open a shop I will stock hats and display them as any guy on the street could wear them.
