Remember "Johnny Fontane" from The Godfather?

His actual name's Al Martino, and I found out after random browsing of youtube clips and eventually finding my way into his wikipedia page that he passed away not more than a few hours ago.

Aaaah. I love The Godfather.

I heard about his death on the news this evening. Very sad. Of course, I only knew him in The Godfather, but what a voice!

He was very popular in the 60's & 70's. If any of you out there have Italian grandparents who still have their 33 rpm record collections, I will bet $$ that there will be some Al Martino in there. And Mario Lanza, Tony Bennett and Connie Francis....
