Any good photos of ANJ-3 jackets being worn? Considering picking up one of these as nice spring semi-dress jacket. Looks a bit more formal then a horse/steer hallfbelt.

Not much love for the ANJ-3 huh? Anyway, as and FYI to those looking. Gibson and Barnes has one mid-brown ANJ3 in 38reg left in stock if you call them. I claimed the last 40reg. Oh, and size wise, this cut was definitely true to size. Not oversized like most say, maybe their civilian stuff is roomier.

It's odd, isn't it? I think it's a great looking jacket - basically a m422a without the furry collar - slim and stylish. I guess the A-2 still catches the most attention.

I saw and tried on a G&B AN-J-3 when I was at their factory a bit over a year ago. Great jacket but settled on "historical " A-2 instead as it fit me better than the ANJ. The ANJ-3 is probably the best designed flight jacket ever made and is unfortunate that it never developed the traction it should have made.

G&B dropped about 1/3 of their jacket catalog from the site recently. Their motorcycle jackets, Luftwaffe, and ANJ.

That might be it. For the life of me now I can't recall if there was an actual ANJ-3 at one point.

There definitely was an actual ANJ-3 on G&B's website until not too long ago. The ANJ-3 was never listed in their paper catalog though.

I have a current Aero Anj-3. It is very heavy goatskin with satin red lining, no shoulder epaulettes. bummer it cost me almost 450 USD...

Here are some images of an original civilian 'AN-J-3' from the early '40s (originally posted in another thread) - produced by McGregor Sportswear.

I looked at one of these when I bought my BK M422a and my AN6552 ( about a year ago ) .... just felt the Mouton collar was nore practical .... the goatskin will last forever but in my head that sytle of jacket should have a Mouton collar :(

Great jackets though ... as I recall quite small made ( certainly the Aero one I tried on many years ago was) .... if it's a deal snap it up :)

I'm surprised at the lack of love for the ANJ-3 too. I adore my Aero ANJ-3, and even my harshest critic and ambivalent partner in such matters - my girlfriend - has said that she likes it the best of all my leather jackets! That speaks volumes in itself.
I personally think the ANJ-3 is superior to the A2 as, by it's very nature due to later development, it's more functional, comfortable and practical, yet maintains that certain era/aura associated with the A2 and the goatskin is nice and tough, yet supple and has a superb grain.
What's not to love?!?

I'm rather surprised and disappointed to learn here that G&B have ceased making it though … but then again, that would stem from the definite preference for the more classic and ubiquitous A2.
