Andy Garcia's Panama in The Lost World Cuban movie (?)

Really like Garcia's hat when filming the movie about Cuba in the 50's. Is this the Cuenca, as I love the plantation vintage look to it. One of our boys recently was sporting a similar Panama and it looked great! What is it, and where can they be found (Panama Bob's?)

The Gambler or Savannah on PB's site seems to come close. I like that Cuban/Plantation owner's look and could see myself on the rocker on my decking with a cuban cigar!! Just looks so cool and sophisticated (and outdoorsish too! a man's hat!!)/SIZE]

I know that Andy Garcia has bought several straw hats from Optimo. I've been on the phone with Graham when he came in before, but I can't say whether that's one of Graham's.

Really got to improve on my current Panama guys...

This is a shot I took half an hour ago out in the back garden (yes, the sun does shine here occasionally!!!). Ths Christy's of London Panama I feel is just a tad boring 'for me,' and I want something that suits my character a wee bit more!!
I feel the monte cristo/plantation/Gambler..etc does that, but I need advice on what to get and where to get it (I know, I'm opening a BIG DOOR here!!).

But the fedora style Panama that I currently have, just doesn't cut it with me, I need something with more character, more Latin Spirit, hence the Garcia thread to launch all of this!! I like the wider brims, without a doubt and I feel they suit my head and face much more.

How do I move forwards on this chaps? and chappesses...?

Paddy, first off, I love the set up you have there. I would love to have a drink with you there. Great stuff!

Secondly, you can't go wrong with a Panama Bob body and styling by Mr. Fawcett. I have two: the broad brimmed fedora, I am sure you've seen and an Optimo block I just got today. Both are amazing.

The hat that Andy Garcia is wearing is a lot of hat, but I think you could pull it off. Alan looks good and that other gentleman. The planter is a great hat; pair it with an interesting ribbon and you've got something outstanding.

Personally, I like your Christy's hat too, but I understand the need for more.

PanamaBob and Art is the answer...

Just get the hat body from Robert Weber send it to Art Fawcett and you will not only save money you will have a much better hat than any you could buy elsewhere... Now just do it... That block is a piece of cake for Art.

Not sure if I deserve them, but to be honest, I'm still getting used to being a Panama wearer these days!! the stifling hot weather in the UK recently, has helped somewhat!

Strange, but as soon as I saw the hat Garcia was wearing, I just 'knew' that was for me!! I work very much on 'gut feeling' and most of the time it works out, so ....it tells me this hat is 'right.' Start saving Paddy boy!

Oh and Tim, I could see you up on the old quarter deck too!

Items on Paddy's Havanna quarter deck oasis...

The crystal decanter has my vintage Port in there (I know, should be Cuban Rum on a night like that, but no, it's Port). The leather case is from the 20s/30s which I got off good friends of the family (whose dad was a pilot in the RFC during WW1, and I got his water bottle cover that he used over the Western Front!). It's an all leather luggage case that would have been strapped to the back of a car or gone on the old Liners. It has the marking of ORIENT discreetly on the side and is in immaculate condition (I probably, with hindsight, saved it from being dumped!). It's fully rivetted together and feels bullet proof!
No secrets inside sadly...well, now that would be telling!! A fully preserved and resurrected Lana Turner eased herself out. I wish!
