To get over the sadness of returning my Size 8 Wareings Irvin which was just too short for my 6'2" frame, I spoke to Alan Eastman. He patiently put up with me dithering over whether to get a stock seal brown or Redskin B-6, and I finally gave him the go-ahead for a custom length Roughwear B-6 on Monday. His crew immediately went to work, and I have just been emailed by Alan to say it's done and will be in the mail tomorrow, Friday!
This has GOT to be service of the highest order, or am I just lucky it's summer in the UK?

Dunno, but after two posts on it, it sounds more like a commercial... lol Good luck though. Nice jacket.I think John Lever posted some pics of his recently, and it's an awesome jacket. I really want a Redskin one day.

Like you, I am also ~6'2" and have never been able to wear a stock size and always need a long (44L). I have no experience with Eastman on my side of the Pond but am suitably impresses the Alan Eastman woul raise the bar of customer service to that level. Be sure to post pictures and measurements when you receive the jacket.

Ha, might be coincidence, might be the weather..... could be they also had some of the panels ready to go - afaik ELC still primarily work to stock rather than on a custom order basis a la Aero?

I'm 6'2" also. I think is the 6'2" thread. Please post pictures of it. Maybe I'll order one too. Did he charge you extra?

There was a £50 charge for the extra 1.5" in the body (and I asked for just one inch extra on the sleeves)
I guess I am a little excited after letting the Irvin go - I bought a secondhand Eastman D-1 three years ago and it was also a little on the short side, so to finally order something to size is a buzz...sorry to sound like a promoter for them!
But all you fellow 6'2"ers, I will bang up some pics upon its arrival for sure.

Please do. And honestly, I was jabbing on the commercial thing - some of us were accused of the same for being Aero fans. And the tall guys get the issue all too well. It's hard getting clothing when you've taller or than average. It's exciting and scary to order your first custom. Luckily, the B-6 isn't as prone to OCD on fit like an A-2 or other fashion styles. It's a tad more forgiving. Good luck, and post when it's home!

It happens the same to me. I contacted Eastman to find out dimensions of some of their jackets and I need extra back length in all of them. I'd have to pay +£50 and the order is not returnable. [huh]

It does mean taking a bit of a risk, but to be fair the company of any sort that will take a return on a non-standard item is very rare indeed. I can see it from their pov - it would rather limit their market for resale.

Yes, this policy is good for the seller but it scares away customers too.

- ha ha - no worries Butte! I do have fond memories of my first flight jacket - an Aero D-1 which I got from a gent in the US three years ago - again, a perfect fit except for the length, so I had one winter with it before parting ways. It was a magnificent jacket, and truly brilliant in it's quality and construction...

Well, here it is - it landed 7 days after Allan said it had been shipped. It's had a going over with Dubbin, and it is breaking in really quickly. And it is super comfortable, so for all you 6'2" guys , here is what it looks like on a 102KG bloke...remembering it is 1.5" longer than a stock 46, and 1" longer in the sleeves. And the redskin vibe is just amazing.

I tried 5 ELC A-2s, 3 with the full extra length allowed (2 inches), but still had issues with sleeves... They did vary somewhat. Going up a size with my skinny frame would not work, so, unfortunately for me ELC is a bust as far as A-2s...
Have had my eye on their D-1 though....

Great that really quick shipping.

My new Aero has been on its journey to Austria (not Australia!) for 7 days now!

Unfortunately Aero Leather has changed from UPS to parcelforce. UPS was a problem concerning their arbitrariness in delivering (if the deliverer was not in the mood he delivered the next day, e.g.), but the order was trackable perfectly.

Parcelforce is not able to tell a delivery date - and obviously not willing! My inquiry ended up with an e-mail saying:

"I have checked the tracking number you have provided and your parcel is not yet due for delivery. It is currently progressing through the Network.
I can confirm that the expected delivery speed of our Euro Priority Business service to Australia is 3 working days. Working days are Monday to Friday."

A postal service that mixes up Austria with Australia !!! :eeek:

They cannot tell a definitive delivery date !!! :eeek:

Aero quo vadis ???

Kind regards,

Johannes

The pants!...yes, well they are ex RAAF from the 80's....no B-17 wrenchwork has been done in them but they are rather grimed from pulling the mustang apart- the 1968 fastback mustang...

Johannes

I once queried the postage price from a US customer for a jacket, the emails went like this.

Me: "What price to post to the UK please"

Seller: " Is that UK England or Ukraine , I do not sell to Ukraine Russia"

Ukrainians would be very pleased to know they are still part of the Soviet Union:eeek:
