Amazing Single-Breasted Barnstormer Jacket on eBay

And I don't use the word amazing often! This jacket was owned (apparently) by Stephen Hoye, aviation pioneer. It is in effect a single-breasted shawl collar barnstormer. Now THIS is a jacket I can get behind! Does anybody know what Aero leather choice would suit this style best? I'm thinking maybe jerky horse.

Make that Moye Stephens. He flew around the world in an open cockpit plane. Wow, that is a useful jacket!

In looking over his jacket, this is how I'd tweak a Barnstormer to reproduce it:

Black FQHH.
Shawl collar and lining with corduroy band.
Slimmer cut.
Single-breasted.
Button cuffs with 2nd offset button.
Lower vertical pockets.
Pointed pocket flaps with button enclosure.
Cotton sleeve lining.

It is a nice jacket.

I am not sure how serious you are about reproducing it, but here would be my thoughts. There have been warnings here about heavy horsehide lined with shearling: namely, that it is too heavy. I would say keep the shearling collar but choose another liner for the body. If you did decide to have a shearling lining, have something warmer in the sleeves than just cotton drill, like cotton drill over alpaca.
