There are many photos on here of me wearing it .... do a search
Based on the leather jackets from the 40’s and 50’s very similar to the Aero "Highwayman" ( It’s made by the same ex-Aero machinists, cut by the same ex-Aero cutters from the same materials as Aero used through the 80’s. 90’s and into 2000’s … with a slightly neater pattern in my opinion. As an (ex)owner of more than a dozen Highwayman jackets, some of which have been re-purchased by Ken Calder the owner of Aero Leather Clothing himself, I know what I’m talking about here.
The jacket is manufactured from Horween’s famous Chromexcel Steerhide ( I much prefer steerhide to horsehide in this style from both the perspective of a shorter break in period and it also develops a much better patina and drape in my opinion) The Horween tannery has produced this leather using same tried and tested methods for over 100 years !
Sleeves are lined in cotton drill for ease of wear without storm cuffs (which only get in the way!) The two deep hand-warmer pockets are lined in heavy moleskin for durability and warmth, as is the zip breast pocket and two inside pockets, which complete the classic look. The back features two -panel back sections: a shallow "V" shaped yolk being the only design feature on the back. The jacket is lined in mid-weight Lochcarron 100% wool “Weathered Gordon” tartan and the bottom has a 4” black heavy moleskin border to prevent wear of the tartan lining on belt loops and jean rivets ( a common complaint of the Aero Highwayman).
The strap and brass buckle side adjusters ensure a snug fit at the waist. As with most quality leather jackets the centre zipper is a “Talon”. The sleeves are finished off with a traditional American style cuff.
“New” this jacket would cost over £600.
