All of my Akubras have white liners except for my Bluegrass Green Campdraft, which has an orange liner like yours. It makes me wonder if they make a conscious decision to use a particular color for a particular hat, if it's completely random and they just use the next one on the stack, use whatever they have in stock regardless of color, or...?
I have a BGCD and it has the same white liner as is in my SBCD. I really like the salmon colored liner.

Received my BGCD imperial grade from EA today. It has the normal white liner inside. It currently fits me like a round, gapping a bit on the sides. And it is currently much stiffer than my MBCD imperial grade. I'm hoping to wear it out in the sun tomorrow & it should start to conform to my head shape a bit.

I can't find his post now but believe Bob Roberts was wanting pics of CD open crowns to compare. After wearing it a bit in the house I threw in a diamond bash dry using Tommy's video as a guide. It's much too stiff dry to hold even the pinch dents for very long and with my tall head shape & gaps at the sides I need the bubble to keep the bash from sitting down on my head. So when time permits I will have to apply some steam & clean up the bash a bit so it will hold & the hat will fit me the way I like. My fingers need to feel that putty feeling!

Thanks Bob. Going to wear it for a couple of days to give the fit time to conform before worrying about the bash. I wore it out to the bar tonight & think the fit is beginning to dial in some. Or maybe it was just the Scotch I was feeling!
Your welcome. A good feeling either way. The hat should adjust quite well to your head.

Back on Feb 6 I ordered a bgcd from ea and the Web site stated a three month delivery I believe, but it was on my porch today when I got home. I'll post some pics once I figure out where to host them.
It's a size 59 cause I kept reading it will tighten up, but I'm a 58 so I'll be stuffing the band a bit until it shrinks.
It does have the salmonish coloured linner which looks nice.

Right after I ordered it Isaw a bgcd size 60 on ebay and bought it thinking I might be able to wear it while I waited, but it's way too big.
It's like new with a nice teardrop bash, maybe some one here did it, I don't know, but it will be up for trade if someone's interested. I have $60 +shipping in it, not looking to make anything on it . If not I'll have to figure out how to sell it .

Sorry - did I not notice your request earlier.

Above is a new SilverBelly beside my BGG which was being reshaped.

MoonStone still wrapped.

Moonstone right out of the box.

Silverbelly right out of the wrapper - complete with deep dents from shipping. They went away in the shaping process.

BGG factory photo. I do not think that I kept the open crown photo that I took.

The Williams does not come open Crown, but when I get the replacement, I will put it on the block and show it before I reshape it. Until then, this is what I have to offer.

Hope this helps.

Your liner is clearly a salmon like referenced earlier. I like it. Mine is tan, which I also like, but your's is very nice!

I have a hard time getting pinch dents with any depth to them.

I had the same problem with my SBCD when I first got it: there seems to have been a period last year when Akubra produced a number of hats that were heavily starched. The FED IV that I got a few months ago (Heritage felt) was much more pliable. As for bashing, I generally have dry-bashed them first, worn them for awhile, and then steamed and tried to shape them. Ultimately, it's the sitting and fiddling with it while you're waiting in the car for your wife or sitting in the doctor's waiting room that really shapes the hat.

And thats half the fun.
