Air Outpost - a day at Sharjah airport in 1937

I just found this 15 minute movie from 1937, showing a typical day at the old Sharjah airport (in what are today the United Arab Emirates) in 1937. Sharjah was a night stop on the Imperial Airways (nowadays British Airways) route from London to India and Australia, four days of flying out of London.

Quite an interesting contrast compared to today's air hubs in the region such as Emirates Airlines at Dubai....

Tom,

Brilliant! Thank you for this - the best thing on the forum for ages, IMO.

Next time I transit Dubai I will expect to see, '...an improbable attack by wandering tribes of Bedouins' and if they lose my luggage again I will insist on, '...punishment in the Arab way by loss of an eye or limb'!

Come to think of it, transiting Dubai is almost worse than either of those...
