I know this is breaking the rules here and I hope I don't get punished, but my fellow FL's REALLY have to see this coat for sale:

Sorry but I have to remove the link. Feel free to re-post it after the auction closes..

I want one bad but can't justify the expense.

What you see here is a misinformed seller.

Nylon was patented in 1935. It first came out to the public in 1938. The Seller is wrong.

I remember being taught about that in GCSE chemistry class. If memory serves, the guy who invented it killed himself in the end, believing his life had amounted to nothing and he had not achieved anything....

Looks more like something I wore as a kid in the 50's but not that bright. In looking at the style, I have no idea where this guy got the idea for 20's and 30's. It sure does look 60's or 70's to me too. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole. (or even a 7 foot bulgarian) :p

Did this, by any chance, happen at the height of the disco craze?

I know I shouldn't make jokes about that sort of thing, but...

NO way is that pre WWII. MAYBE 1950s, and that's a big maybe. That's what my Grandpa wore in the 60s and 70s. With no label, we'll never find out either.
