I sent Dena (Leather Care Specialists) three Aero jackets for zipper replacements, after the usual frustration and eventual failure associated with the #5 Talon zippers. I just received them today and am thrilled with her work. They are perfect and I'm so excited to finally have sturdy zippers.
Here are some photos and details:
Aero Board Racer in Dark Seal Vicenza. Zipper replaced with Riri #8 (Cup puller and universal slider), nickel finish, brown tape. Zipper extended one inch lower than the original, per my request.
Wayfarer in Battered Tan Horsehide. Zipper replaced with #10 YKK, antique brass with brown tape. I wanted Riri but couldn't find the right color combinations in the correct size. #10 YKK is a solid zipper though so no regrets. Zipper extended one inch lower than the original, per my request.
Aero Board Racer in brown CXL steerhide. Zipper replaced with #10 YKK, antique brass with brown tape. Again, I wanted Riri but couldn't find the right color combinations in the correct size.
I'd like to give a huge shoutout to @FlatCap99 for being a really standup guy. He sold me the CXL Board Racer recently, and when the zipper broke the second day I had it, he contributed a substantial portion of the cost to replace it. This is above and beyond what I expect, but just goes to show what a great group of humans we have in this community. If ever you're considering a transaction with @FlatCap99, don't hesitate. Five stars.
