Aero Steerhide and Shearling questions

Perhaps some of you fellow Aero fans might help with the following questions!

I am thinking of ordering an Aero CBI "Field Modified" A-2. I've never seen the Aero steerhide in person. Can anyone tell me how it compares to the Jerky Horsehide in terms of weight and stiffness?

Rather than the mouton, I am considering a shearling collar, in particular the RAF Irvin shearling. Am I right in assuming the RAF shearling is darker than the off-white shearling used in jackets like the B-6 and D-1? Does Aero call this honey-coloured? Many thanks in advance.

Will they do that? I've had what I'd call somewhat cocky replies from some of these custom, high-zoot jacket companies. Have not had that with Aero, but would love to get samples before plugging down $900+ on a new jacket.

Not sure about Aero USA but if you contact them directly in Scotland then yes.
