Maybe an odd request but, is there anyone here close to Ann Arbor, MI with an Aero jacket in a size 40 or 42? I would love to be able to try something on! Thurston is good about sizing and etc but I honestly cannot commit if I don't know the fit!

I was hoping to know my sizing so I could take advantage of the deals in Classifieds here :)

Without a test/fit jacket it's a hit and a miss. Consider ordering through Thurston at least for your first jacket.

You can probably get a very good idea of your fit by measuring a jacket in your wardrobe that fits you well. Shoulders, pit to pit, sleeve length and back length. Once you get those numbers dialed in, you can easily buy used - assuming the seller measured correctly.

Jackets, even Aero leather jackets, are all over the place size-wise. I have an Aero Long Half Belt in size 38 that is very close pit to pit with a size 42 Bill Kelso (the Aero is slightly larger). I'm usually a size 40. The Aero 30's HB fits pretty slim. The Aero Highwayman fits very large chest-wise. Sizes don't matter, measurements do.

OK thanks a lot! I don't really have a jacket to measure, other than my suit coat, that measures 21" pit to pit (I'm typically a 42). Not sure what I really need for shoulders, I have some button down shirts that are 19" but feel .5 too big so I imagine a jacket that measures 19" there would be good.

There is one thing i have learnt from owning many leather jackets, 0.5 to 1" difference here or there will not really make that much difference!
I have jackets with sleeves ranging from 25" to 27", shoulders from 19" to 20", pit to pit from 22" to24", and back length from 25" to 27".
All of them fit me great! Because of the way leather moulds and conforms to your body an extra inch here or there will quickly blend in and become insignificant.

On top of that, there are so many pattern variations in jackets, that measurements don't always tell the whole story!
I have jackets with wider shoulders and pit to pit that feel more constricted than jackets with smaller shoulders and pit to pit.

So many things come into play, you can never be 100% sure of the fit of something just by using measurements.
You can know if it will roughly fit or not, but you won't know if it "FITS" until you put it on.

All that to say, just measure something you own that fits well and use that as an indication, but don't worry if it's 0.5" out.

You could also send your measurements to Aero. They will guide you thru the process by email. I think you can tell them you would like to buy their jacket but used. I think they'll help 'cause the style matters too. Some their styles run big, some snug.

The main measurement is the chest. Aero request to measure it relaxed and expanded over a garment your gonna wear the jacket.

I'm in Chicago and have two Aero shearling jackets: B6 and D1, size 38 and 40 respectively. If you're ever in Chicago and want to try them on, let me know! Happy to help out.
