Here's a pic of an original Aero 15142-P A-2 in which you can see the HH was unmatched. Notice the beacon rust knits as the one I'm getting will also have that color as well.

Here's the new one.

Well, I'm not going to be able to collect jackets like I've collected fedora's. I wanted one jacket that was as close to an original as was possible to make. I think this one fits that bill. Aero stands behind their knits for quality and as for the color, well as one can see from the original, they are a direct match.

An explanation...

Let me briefly explain-

I'm talking about the repro knits.

Aero A-2s are fantastic, don't get me wrong- I've had a couple.
And great value for money, when stacked up against the Japanese repros.
But I'm personally not a big fan of their knits- they ARE 100% worsted wool, are very dense and resistant to scuffs and will last far longer than Eastmans' but they're not a replication of the originals. They don't use a dual weave knit on the cuffs as a (one piece but knitted in a dual density weave- the part which attaches to the sleeve is a different density, stretchier than the cuff piece, allowing a curved taper from the sleeve width to the wrist cuff)standard fitment but I was told they can supply them as an option.
Not a major point perhaps, for most consumers but a notable departure from the original and a point nonetheless, for those who are fussier than most.

I am told the color is a perfect match for the original Aero rust rib but the one I had seemed to be a strange shade- maybe mine were not the standard.

I've had originals, Eastman, Aero and Japanese jackets to compare with.

Although if looking for a good repro of an original contracted A-2, Aero also do a "Bronco W535ac29191" contract, which looks very nice. I would buy one.

You'll love the jacket.
Aero A-2s are very, very good.
