Advice on removating a silver chamois nail buffer?

I recently bought the nail buffer below, which is feeling fairly sorry for itself, as can be seen. In particular, the chamois buffer is rather dry and coarse - is there anything anyone can suggest to rejuventate it a bit?

Get hold of some neats foot oil saddlers sell it,rub a little bit into the chamois and it will make it soft and supple again.

If the chamois does not recover you could most likely replace it.
