It has become quite fashionable these days to say that the education system is failing. But one needs to examine way more than just 'the education system' to understand why.
Today's world is not yesterday's world. Educators have way more to compete with with each passing year. Declining moral standards, electronic distractions, the sense of entitlement, and politicians pandering to their voting blocks are rampant.
Let's take this last point. The last thing any politician will do is to tell parents the truth about how their unruly children should be dealt with, or enact discipline policies that will make fundamental differences in the way schools are run, affecting their success rates. It is much easier to get re-elected if you find scapegoats that are a small minority of your voting block.
Agreed. Educators are between a rock and a hard place. I would say similar to doctors. But I have always held substance that the foundation of any working society needs to be a good education system. Most of the problems in society today can be traced back to an ever growing ignorant populace.
