An interesting look behind the scenes at the Library Of Congress's sound archives in today's Los Angeles Times.

Note the references to the recently-discovered Bill Savory collection of big-band/jazz airchecks and their possible fate, as well as potential changes in copyright law that could have an impact on the future availablity of such materials.

It goes back to what I've always said... if it just sits there and no one can touch it, hear it or see it, what's the point? I hope they make all of it available, even if we have to pay for it.
