Scuse me in advance,
but I don't found a thread about this question.

I've begun to enjoy my 7x beaver vintage Open Road. I wear it in a 5°C day, it work very good,it keep my head very warm.
I,also, have seen a lot of pics about guys wearing a beaver hat in a sunny day ( they were wearing only a t-shirt ).
The question:
Is beavers felt an isothermal matter?
Can anyone wear a beaver felt hat under the sun too?

Thanks to all.

Riccardo.

I wear my beaver in the heat and in the cold. I think it is more sensitive to high humidity than heat. If I wear it in humid climates, I can not stand it for very long but if I wear it in hot, dry climate, I can wear it all day.

Here in south Florida at 32-35?Ǭ?C with high humidity most of the time, I find it tough to endure any medium to heavy felt for long when out in the sun. I do see a lot of cowboy types that seem to handle it OK, but brown and black are not the colors of choice! The lighter colors in lightweight felts are OK in high temp & humidity, but Panamas or other straws would be preferable.

FWIW - I wear my beaver felts to work year-round, regardless of the weather. But, that's mkainly out of the house to my air-conditioned car, 20 minute drive, then out of the car into the air-conditioned office, where the lid comes off.
