OK, so I go to one of my favorite old stuff stores, and I find this nifty 4-place set of Fabulous Fifties dishes, never used and still in their original box! Wow, a cool find. Made by The Federal Glass Company of Colombus Ohio, "heat proof", a nice pattern, and the original stickers are still on each piece. Cool.
As I'm checking out I notice a card in the box in an opened envelope, and so we read it and it's a "Best Wishes on Your Special Day" kind of card making this a 50 + year old wedding present that was never used. Pretty cool find in itself,...

But the best part of the story is when I get it home and look towards the bottom of the box when I'm inspecting the dishes. I find another envelope with a card, and it has never been opened!
Inside the card I find a fin dated 1953,...howdy Abe, long time no see.

I think there's a lesson to be learned here.
I think it would be,....."Always follow your instincts." That is, if ya have any. Apparently the couple that received this long ago just relegated it to the basement and forgotahboudit.
