PADDY'S AAF TIP FOR TODAY!!!
If any of you have ever, or are intending to apply one of the 'iron-on' AAF decals (Good ones from RMNZ and MASH in Japan) to the upper shoulder of your AAF leather flying jacket, and you don't want it to look 'TOO NEW,' then here's something that I do.
Buy a small tube of BURNT UMBER (dark brown) oil paint from your local arts and crafts shop. Once you have ironed on your decal and let it set and cool, get a small dab of the paint on the end of your finger and rub it 'lightly' into the decal and let the light film of oil paint sit there for 20 secs.
Then with a clean cotton cloth, lightly wipe it over the decal, to leave a burnished brown vintage patina to the decal, as the paint stains down the bright colours and also gets stuck in any jerky bits too. Works a treat for me anyway!!
