...when a measure (a coat or jacket) in UK is said to be "40-42 chest", does that indicate that it is a "size" 40 or 42 or is it simply the measure around chest in inches????:eusa_doh:
(Dont tell me to look at Paddy's sizepost - I have. And found no answere:) )

Size 40 or 42 indicates that the chest measures 40 or 42 inches respectively around. A suit or jacket in that size would measure a little more around for movement, but the size indication is meant to convey it will fit that size. So a suit that is a 42 will be about 23 inches across, 46 inches around to fit a guy with a 42 inche chest measurement. A coat or snug suit jacket might be a little less.

These days with the baggy fit of suits it might measure more than hat.

Thanks! Excellent explanation. I am rolling on, much wiser.

There's mixed reviews over at the RAF reenactors forum. Some people rave about them, others were less than happy.

What seems to come from the discussion is that you need to supply Sanjay with as much information as possible, photos, etc.

Here's some previous discussion about Replicaters from over there:

I very nearly ordered a set of SD from Sanjay and had a number of email conversations with him. He was very polite and helpful.

I ended up not needing to order from him as I found a post war RNZAF set (which is virtually the same) at an antique shop which was the perfect (and I mean perfect - it's like it was tailored especially) and for $NZ25 - rather chuffed with myself with that!

Thanks Smithy. Great reading:rolleyes:
He is obviously not the guy to order a pair of boots with - it looks like they will either be too small or end up looking like a SD jacket;)

I don't think he's necessarily bad Spitfire, I just think that people who have had bad experiences by the sounds of it haven't given him enough info to work with.

Boots-wise I'd probably go elsewhere.

Which are your by the way - Aeros?

No - wish they were!
They are Avirex. A friend of mine bought'em in US a loooong time ago.

And after I got them back from the cobbler - I can even get into them:)
