So here's my issue, I work a desk job that also often requires heavy lifting, and moving of large items etc... I wear a suit or atleast high waisted pants, suspenders and a tie every day. But footwear I've yet to discover something perfect for the job. I'm on my feet often, and I find it best to have rubber soles for comfort and safety. What I've been wearing are 3 hole black on black wingtip doc martens. My problem is that I feel like it's strikingly out of place to the rest of my attire. To add to it, my english bulldog puppy recently decided my shoes were his chew toy! Soooo is there something with a more golden age feel that is somewhat a work shoe, but can get by as a dress shoe that is comfortable and light enough to be my everyday shoes?!
I was fishing around for this picture of these two guys sitting on a fence in great double breasted suits wearing work boots but couldn't find it at the moment to illustrate my point. So use... your imagination..!! :p
serious though, thanks for your help!

I am still new at this but I would think a pair of bates may work. The Navy use to issue a higher style than the army. You don't have to mirror polish them just keep them cleanand they will blend in finee. You can stand in the thinks all day long (been there...) and dont' take too long to break in.

Again I am new to the vintage, but they can pass for office and are not clunky... just trying to help...

Outside of that I would suggest some insoles like superfeet or something.
